Set in the serene and picturesque landscape kissed by nature’s finest, Bhoomika is a modern take on a traditional Kerala home. Immersed in the goodness of a typical tropical village, the house overlooks the paddy fields and hills beyond. Facing the east, the house showers in the golden light during the early morning hours. From across the paddy fields, one can find the house peeking here and there through the palms. The curiosity of what lies beyond begins there.

The client formerly an NRI family, having spent a significant portion of their lives abroad, approached us with their desire to build a humble home in their hometown. The client’s brief was simple as simple can be ; a 4 BHK house reminiscent of the traditional Kerala home that didn’t compromise on its functional aspects. The spatial design development was simple owing to the more or less flat site. The level difference between the main road and the site was solved by a gentle slope. This slope follows the natural slope of the locality and during the monsoons, the rainwater flows towards the paddy fields. These elements thus place Bhoomika on a podium.
